# Getting Started

Your SmartBooks environment is now live with your historical data pre-loaded. While we have set up your initial reports, the platform is fully flexible.

Think of this "Getting Started" guide as your owner's manual for refining your new financial dashboard. We recommend moving through these steps in order to get the most out of your data:

* Reporting Periods – Define the timeframes you want to analyze.
* Reporting Structure – Reorganize how your accounts are grouped and displayed.
* Business Dimensions – Enable and add tags like "Department" or "Location" to your reports.
* KPIs & Operational Data – Layer in non-financial metrics (like headcount or units sold) for a 360-degree view.
