# Navigating Smartbooks

Once you open Smartbooks, you'll be taken to your first financial report. From there, you can navigate through the sections in our software:

1. **Sidebar Navigation:**\
   The sidebar is divided into three distinct groups:
   * **Entity Selector:** Here you will find all the entities that you have access to in Smartbooks
   * **Report Groups:** Quickly navigate between the pre-defined report groups.
   * **Data and Settings**
     * **Manual Input Section:** Create budgets and forecasts using the manual input section, allowing for dynamic planning and detailed financial analysis.
     * **Business Models:** Alter and customize the data models defined under the business models to reflect your specific financial structure and reporting requirements.
     * **Company Settings:** Easily access and modify your company settings to ensure that your system is configured to your needs.

2. **Report Configuration:**\
   Inside any report, click on the gear icon at the top right to open the report configuration screen, where you can customize settings specific to that report.

It is possible that you do not have access to all these options due to your user permission level, here we have three options:&#x20;

* **Viewer:** Is only able to see the financial reports
* **Contributor:** Restricted accessibility to manual input screens and report configurators
* **Admin:** Has access to everything Smartbooks has to offer
