# Why does the planning category I just created not show up in the manual input screen?

Planning categories are created globally, but they must be **explicitly added to a manual input screen** before they become available for data entry.

If a planning category does not appear in the selector at the top of the manual input screen, it means it has not yet been added to that screen for the selected year.

To make it available:

1. Open the relevant **manual input screen**
2. Click the **gear icon** in the top-right corner
3. Select **Add category**
4. Choose the planning category
5. Add the required year (for future years, you can type `current + 1`)
6. Save the configuration

Once saved, the planning category will appear in the selector and you can start entering data.

If the category still does not appear, check that:

* The correct manual input screen is selected
* The budgeting structure includes the relevant accounts
* The correct year is active in the selector
