# Why does my consolidation not move to the next period?

A consolidation only moves to the next period once **all underlying entities** have been moved to that period.

If your consolidation is not updating, check whether every participating entity is already on the required reporting period.

You can verify and manage this via\
**Settings → Subscription → Reporting Periods**.

#### What to check

* Ensure that **all underlying entities** are moved to the same reporting period
* If one or more entities are still on a previous period, the consolidation will remain on that earlier period

#### Important note about preview mode

If an entity is set to **Preview next period**, it is **not yet published**.\
Entities in preview mode do **not** count as being moved to the next period for consolidation purposes.

This means:

* If all underlying entities are still in preview mode, the consolidation will **not** move to the next period
* The consolidation only updates once the next period is **published** for all entities

Once all underlying entities have published the same reporting period, the consolidation will automatically move forward.
