# Data refresh stopped, what now?

If your data has not refreshed for a while, the automatic synchronization with your source system has most likely been lost. You can check the status and restore the connection yourself in a few steps.

**Check the last refresh**

The **last refresh time** is shown at the bottom of the application. If this timestamp is older than expected, the automatic sync has stopped running.

**Try a manual refresh first**

* Click the **refresh button** next to the last refresh timestamp to trigger an update
* If the refresh completes successfully, no further action is needed

**Restore the connection**

If the manual refresh does not resolve the issue, the connection with the source system needs to be re-established:

1. Go to **Settings → Integrations**
2. Review the synchronization overview — failed runs are marked with an error status
3. Click **Renew Authorization** in the top-right corner to reconnect to the source system
4. Once reconnected, click **Synchronize Data** to trigger a fresh refresh

> Note: restoring the connection requires an **Admin** role.

**Still not refreshing?**

If the data still does not update after renewing authorization, reach out to Smartbooks support so we can investigate the connection from our side.
