# Movement()

The Movement() function calculates the monthly change by subtracting the value of the previous period from the current period. When no arguments are provided, it defaults to the current account, period, and year.

## Syntax:

Movement(account, cost\_center='cost\_center', period=1, year=2020, view='periodic', module='module')

## Parameters

* **account:** The account code or name. When referencing another account, enclose its code in quotes .
* **cost\_center:** The cost center code.
* **period:** Accepts values from –1 to –12. For instance, setting period = -1 returns the value from the previous period. If no period is specified, the current period’s value is used.
* **year:** Specifies the year from which to retrieve the account value. For example, using year = "YYYY" along with period = -1 allows you to use the actual value from the previous corresponding period when planning for a future period.
* **view:** Either 'ytd' or 'periodic'.
* **module:** The module alias.

## **Usage Example:**

* To calculate the monthly movement for the "9000" account: Movement('9000').
