# Consolidated Budgets

In Smartbooks, budgets and forecasts are created at the individual entity level and then aggregated into the consolidated entity. This means that all budgeting and forecasting activities must be performed on an entity basis, with the results visible in the consolidated view.

If you enter data at the subfolder level within an entity, that input will appear as a special line item in the consolidated financial accounts and typically becomes unmapped after the budget is initially created. This does not occur with inputs done at the general ledger level. Ensure you drag and drop these entries into the appropriate subfolder locations so they remain properly mapped and appear correctly in your consolidated budget.
